2018 MACS Achievement Awards
On May 23, 2018 Ardmore was pleased to celebrate the 2018 MACS Achievement Award recipients. Hosted by Maryland Association of Community Services (MACS), over 300 people gathered at the BWI Marriott to honor the accomplishments of 42 men and women who have overcome a variety of barriers. Ardmore was pleased to nominate a remarkable young woman this year – Congratulations on your award!
Alesia is the epitome of an independent woman. She is a long-standing Safeway employee, having worked there for the last 7 years. In fact, when the original location where Alesia worked closed, Safeway asked her to transfer to a neighborhood store. She is well known within the Safeway organization for her stellar performance and friendly nature! Being gainfully employed is something Alesia is proud of and this is evidenced by her tenure with the company.
Alesia donates her time and energy by doing volunteer work. She has volunteered at Doctor’s Hospital in the past and will begin volunteering at an area nursing home next month. This work is important to Alesia not only because she wants to give back to the community but because she enjoys the opportunity to meet new and exciting people.
In between working and volunteering, Alesia spends her free time going to the movies, dining out, shopping at the mall, and hanging out with her boyfriend. Relationships are important to Alesia and she is happiest when can combine the activities she enjoys with the people who matter most to her. In fact, she is currently looking to rent an apartment in in Montgomery County so she can spend even more time with her immediate family. Alesia knows what she wants and is respected and supported in those choices.
Alesia is proud to say that she is truly living, “her best life.” Ardmore is proud to support her in accomplishing this goal and is the model of such living. She is an example of what we strive for in our Community Living Program – and, frankly, what we all want out of our own lives. Congratulations Alesia!
